“Foreign donors have rejected the government’s recommendations on transparency numerous times and violated their commitments,” wrote Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Facebook.
According to the Speaker, it is up to the foreign donors to improve the situation. Papuashvili called on them to engage in a constructive dialogue.
“This week, the Georgian Parliament adopted amendments to the legislation regulating foreign political funding. Foreign donors have rejected the government’s recommendations on transparency numerous times, violating their commitments. Violations are followed by consequences. It is up to the foreign donors to improve the situation. We call on them to engage in a constructive dialogue,” he said.
