The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has met with the Ambassador of Bulgaria, Veselin Valkanov, who is soon to conclude his diplomatic mission in the country.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the two sides reviewed Georgia-Bulgaria relations during the meeting and discussed prospects for the further development of the historically close ties between the two nations.

“The discussions also touched upon Georgia’s relations with the European Union and the current challenges within this relationship. The counterparts highlighted the vital importance of safeguarding sovereignty and national interests within Georgia’s foreign policy, alongside prospects for developing Georgia’s future connections with EU member states,” the statement from the parliamentary press service read.

The press service further noted that the Speaker of the Parliament expressed his gratitude to the Bulgarian Ambassador for his personal contribution to deepening bilateral relations and wished him every success in his future endeavours.
