Speaker Papuashvili echoes 9/11 anniversary

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Sunday marked the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

In his tweet, Speaker Pauashvili said: “21 years have passed since horrific terrorist attacks in the US. Today we pay tribute to 3000 persons who lost their lives on 9/11 and appreciate those who have chosen the lives of service. We also re-recommit ourselves to joint efforts of ensuring peace and security.”

Sunday marks the 2001 terrorist attacks when hijackers took control of commercial planes and used them as missiles, crashing into New York’s World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field.

Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks by al-Qaida.
