Speaker: OSCE/ODIHR confirms validity of Georgia's elections and gov't
“The main takeaway from the OSCE/ODIHR report is that the elections were held successfully. Georgia has an elected government, and this government will lead the country,” stated Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
“This is explicitly stated in the report, and it was reiterated even yesterday—the elections took place, which is what matters most. While technical errors or other comments can arise in any election, we introduced electronic counters this time, and the process went smoothly. Even ISFED had no criticisms after the results were announced; they deliberated into the late hours but found nothing to contest,” he added.
The OSCE/ODIHR released its assessment of Georgia’s parliamentary elections yesterday. Pascal Allizard, the OSCE Special Coordinator, expressed hope that the newly elected leadership will effectively address the nation’s key challenges and advance Georgia’s goal of EU membership.
