Speaker: Opposition's power shift demand stirs polarization to its peak

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili claims the opposition itself eggs on the polarization, and the power shift demand stirs polarization to its peak.

The remark came after the Speaker responded to the claims that the ruling Georgian Dream representatives allegedly are thwarting opponents in the regions, thus igniting the polarization.

“By demanding the government’s resignation, you [opposition] try to form a government, having no democratic legitimacy, and then get surprised about the polarization, and likely skirmishes with citizens on the spot. This is not only inconsistent but paradoxical,” he stated.

Papuashvili believes the opposition does not even demand early elections “as it knows it has no support from the people.”

“The opposition ‘s entire campaign serves to dodge, downgrade the people, and seize power without them,” he went on.
