Speaker: NGOs/opposition-led terror campaign against MPs unacceptable

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated on Friday that the recent “terror campaign” by NGOs and opposition parties targeting MPs “is unacceptable.” “They praise themselves with this.” “Of course, if it is [campaign] against the opposition, it is also unacceptable.”

The Speaker stated that “any violation would face appropriate response.”

“We observe everything. Police respond to the crime. Beating is a crime, and reports of physical violence are being investigated. The procedure involves the Personal Data Service, the Special Investigation Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office, and other relevant organizations,” Papuashvili added.
