Speaker: New parliament will convene within 10 days after CEC summary protocol in mid-November
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Sunday dismissed opposition claims questioning the election’s legitimacy, citing assessments from international observers.
“The OSCE-ODIHR’s final evaluation confirms the election’s legitimacy,” Papuashvili said, adding that the new parliament will convene within ten days after the Central Election Commission issues its summary protocol in mid-November.
He dubbed the pre-election period ‘calm,’ noting that “all parties had equal campaign opportunities,” according to interim reports.
“The Georgian people gave their verdict on this referendum by supporting the peaceful development of Georgia, so that its well-being is ensured, the development of Georgia by entering the European Union with peace, dignity and prosperity,” he added.
