The Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, met with the President of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Saqr Ghobash.
According to the Parliament, the meeting noted that cooperation between Georgia and the United Arab Emirates is developing dynamically, with high-level reciprocal visits taking place regularly.
The importance of the visit to Georgia by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in September last year was highlighted during the talks. The discussion also covered regional security issues, including the ongoing war in Iran, and emphasized the importance of peace and stability for regional development and economic growth.
Both sides underlined the reliability of the two countries in implementing bilateral economic and investment projects.
“The parties discussed various issues of bilateral cooperation, including the deepening of parliamentary ties. The meeting took place within the 152nd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly, currently being held in Istanbul, Turkey,” the Parliament said.
The Georgian delegation is led by Speaker Papuashvili and includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, and Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee.
