By founding Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Ivane Javakhishvili created a space where Georgian science developed at both national and international levels, nurturing generations whose work has brought the country to the present day, writes the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on social media.

According to Papuashvili, Ivane Javakhishvili’s legacy is an example of how one individual, through knowledge and dedication, can serve the nation, strengthen national identity, and contribute to world science.

“Today marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivane Javakhishvili. His name is associated not only with the creation of the scientific foundation of Georgian historiography and the strengthening of national self-awareness, but also with the establishment and development of the institutional basis of modern science in Georgia.

The achievements of Georgian science in virtually all fields in the twentieth century, as well as the emergence of many world-class scientists, are the result of the foundation laid by Ivane Javakhishvili.

By founding Tbilisi State University, he created a space where Georgian science developed at both national and international levels, educating generations whose work has shaped the present.

His life and work are a clear example of how one person can serve the nation with knowledge and devotion, strengthen national identity, and enrich world science.

I congratulate Georgian society on this date and pay tribute to the great scientist whose name is forever inscribed in the history of our country,” Papuashvili wrote.
