Speaker: Investigation fully revealed murder of Levan Jangveladze, all those involved must face justice

It is important that all individuals accused of the murder of businessman Levan Jangveladze are arrested and held accountable, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili said.

Commenting on the case, Papuashvili noted that former Prosecutor General of Georgia Otar Partskhaladze—whom the Ministry of Internal Affairs has named as the organizer of the murder—is currently a Russian citizen, which complicates the extradition process. Nevertheless, he stressed that accountability for all perpetrators remains essential.

“Of course, this was a very difficult case, as a contract killing took place in the center of Tbilisi. I would like to thank our law enforcement agencies for their meticulous work. The investigation was complex, involving multiple individuals, and the organizer of the crime was outside the country. There were attempts to conceal the crime, and those arrested initially refused to testify. Despite these challenges, the investigation ultimately revealed the full picture,” Papuashvili said.

According to Papuashvili, the statement released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs clearly identifies the organizer, the direct perpetrator, and the motive behind the murder.

“Now it is crucial that all those accused in this case are arrested. We know that several individuals are hiding in different locations—some in Europe, some in Russia. As for Partskhaladze, he has lost Georgian citizenship and now holds Russian citizenship, which complicates extradition. However, it is essential that all perpetrators are brought to justice,” he added.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has officially named former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze as the organizer of the murder of Levan Jangveladze.
