Speaker grateful to people for wisdom, not entrapped by disinformation storm coming from inside or outside
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Georgian people. During the two-month-long ordeal, they once again demonstrated wisdom by not falling for the disinformation from within or outside and reaffirmed their support for our country’s independence and sovereignty,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
According to the Speaker, those who supported Transparency Law supported transparency of foreign money in Georgia.
“I want to thank each member of the Parliament, including the political group of Socialists, who has participated in discussions for the last two months and supported the law finally.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Georgian people. During the two-month-long ordeal, they once again demonstrated wisdom by not falling for the disinformation from within or outside and reaffirmed their support for our country’s independence and sovereignty. This law’s title clearly states its purpose and the positions of its supporters and opponents. Influences with foreign money should be obvious and transparent in our country,” he said.
The Georgian Parliament overrode President Salome Zourabichvili’s veto on the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence on May 28.
