Giorgi Antsukhelidze’s heroism will always set an example of dignity and dedication, said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on the birthday of the August 2008 Russia-Georgia war hero.

According to the Speaker, Giorgi Antsukhelidze is the national identity, freedom and dignity symbol.

“Georgia mourns and celebrates this day at the same time; because it saddens us and fills us with the hope that future generations will be warmed by the love of the motherland, for whom Antsukhelidze’s heroism will always be an example of dignity and dedication,” Shalva Papuashvili said.

Giorgi Antsukhelidze, a hero of the August 2008 Russia-Georgia war, was a Corporal of the IV Infantry Brigade, captured by the Ossetian separatists during the war and tortured.
