Speaker: Foreign country attacked Georgian media; those who keep silent, support foreign country instead of motherland
“Mushrooming media NGOs, media watchdogs, Kintsurashvilis and similar individuals, who have gained millions for years, saying they defended freedom of speech, free media, keep their mouths shut,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, responding to the question of reporters on the UK’s sanctioning Imedi TV and POSTV.
According to the Speaker, a foreign country attacked Georgian media.
He remarked that those who keep silent stand on the side of a foreign country instead of their motherland.
“It is a fact that a foreign country attacked Georgian media, and they keep their mouths shut. This best illustrates that NGOs in Georgia pursue the interests of a foreign force. They are silent because they received money from those who attack the Georgian media.
Therefore, this is another confirmation that they established the Fifth Column with foreign money, which, upon a relevant instruction, should hit the parliament building and police officers with Molotov Cocktails. When necessary, they must remain silent about attacks to justify the actions of their sponsors. It is a fact that the Fifth Column operates in Georgia, which is financed from abroad, and here is the confirmation; not a single media watchdog, organisation, or legion has uttered a word when a foreign country attacked the Georgian media.
This is their final verdict for an individual working in media or NGO, as citizens of this country, when they choose to stand on the side of London instead of Georgia. It is obvious that those who keep silent support the decision of the UK government, support a foreign country instead of their motherland,” he said.
