Speaker: EU violated 2010 diplomatic passport agreement and made unfounded punitive decisions
“The European Union has breached the 2010 international agreement between Georgia and the EU on visa-free travel for diplomatic and service passports,” stated Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
Papuashvili emphasised that the EU’s political decision once again reveals its dishonest stance toward the Georgian people.
“Regarding the diplomatic passports and the EU Ambassador’s statement, it would be appropriate for him to specify under which article and paragraph of the 2010 international agreement, by which the visa-free regime was extended to diplomatic passports, this decision was made. The EU has violated the legally binding 2010 agreement between Georgia and the EU on visa-free travel for diplomatic and service passports, enacting a political and punitive measure without any legal justification. This action once again exposes the dishonest attitude of the Brussels bureaucracy toward the Georgian people,” Shalva Papuashvili emphasised.
