Speaker: EU-funded rally last night called for government overthrow and mass punishment

“We must pay attention that yesterday’s radical rally—including public calls from the stage to ‘overthrow’ the government and ‘punish everyone’—was financed by the European Union,” writes Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on social media.

“We must urgently pay attention that yesterday’s radical rally—where ‘fighters’ (!) from the stage publicly called for the government to be ‘overthrown’ (!) and for ‘everyone to be punished’ (!)—was financed by the European Union.

It is deeply concerning that, through such actions, the European Union embassy is effectively associating the European Union with extremism in the eyes of the Georgian people,” writes Shalva Papuashvili.
