Speaker: EU-funded media hid Saakashvili’s release demands; let Herczynski respond: Is Europe behind torture systems?

According to Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, propaganda media funded by the EU Embassy concealed that the European Parliament resolution demands Saakashvili’s release.

According to Papuashvili, the resolution, adopted with the participation of EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, reflects the EU’s demand—through its commissioner and ambassador—for Saakashvili’s release.

“What’s significant is that their own propaganda media, which the EU Embassy funds, concealed that Saakashvili’s release is demanded in that resolution. They understand that if the Georgian people see this, everything becomes clear there. We saw that this resolution was adopted with the participation of EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos. She showered compliments on Rasa Juknevičienė. So this is entirely the responsibility of the European Commission and the EU Ambassador. It turns out that today the European Union, in the form of the EU Commissioner and the EU ambassador, is demanding Saakashvili’s release.

Therefore, let the EU ambassador clarify to the Georgian people: does Europe consider Saakashvili, the creator of the torture system and a dictator, to embody Europe? In Mr. Herczynski’s and the European Commission’s view, is Saakashvili truly Europe?

Therefore, they cannot escape this responsibility. This resolution was adopted with the Commissioner’s participation. I haven’t heard any critical opinion about the text from either Commissioner Kos, the EU Embassy, or the European Commission. This means they share this resolution; this means they demand Saakashvili’s release. They have demanded, including in previous resolutions, sanctions against Russia. So, are you proposing that we should escalate tensions with Russia, and release a dictator and the creator of a torture system? Is this what they consider Europe to be? Therefore, let Mr. Herczynski clarify—does he believe that Europe is about torture, dictatorship, escalation, and sacrificing the country to conflicts? Or is this not what Europe stands for?” declared Papuashvili.
