Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said the publication of the action plan for implementing the recommendations is the prerogative of the Interdepartmental Commission.
Papuashvili stressed that it is primarily the government’s responsibility to implement recommendations.
“The primary responsibility for implementing the recommendations, working on them, and coordinating with the European Commission lies with the government. This is why the government accepts this action plan with a sense of responsibility,” said Papuashvili.
Additionally, Papuashvili mentioned that the door is open to anyone who wishes to be involved in the work process to implement the recommendations.
“The action plan and the concept adhere to the approach recommended by the Venice Commission, presenting a systematic strategy covering the seven directions outlined by the Commission. The Venice Commission’s recommendation addresses party financing, suggesting the prohibition of financing by legal entities. We will follow these steps.
Regarding the opposition, their perspective on Europe seems selective, depending on their objective assessment of the issue. Sometimes they appreciate recommendations, sometimes they don’t. As for the process of limiting excessive influence, the action plan outlines a comprehensive, multidimensional, and multi-sectoral approach. It spans over 50 pages and includes dozens of initiatives,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
