Speaker calls U.S. sanctions on Georgian judges 'very disappointing'

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday echoed the U.S. State Department’s decision to sanction four Georgian judges, Mikheil Chinchaladze, Levan Murusidze, Irakli Shengelia, and Valerian Tsertsvadze, “for their involvement in corruption.”

Papuashvili believes the decision was made “at a very bad time,” adding “It promotes radicalism and polarization in the country.”

The Speaker called the move “very disappointing.”
