Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, congratulated Imedi TV on its 23rd anniversary.

In a post on social media, Papuashvili congratulated the family of the channel’s founder, the television’s employees and its viewers on the occasion.

“Since its establishment, Imedi has had the mission of being a conduit for the people’s voice, a mirror of pluralism and democracy — a place where society sees its own voice, its own truth and itself,” Papuashvili wrote.

According to him, the television station has had a difficult history and has experienced various challenges over the years.

“Its history has not been easy. This television has experienced what it means to be occupied, to be seized, to be a victim of betrayal and injustice. It knows what it means when someone tries to suppress the voice that reaches the people. Fortunately, that period in its history was short, though unforgettable,” he said.

Papuashvili added that today the broadcaster represents the voice of a large part of society and continues to play an important role in the country’s public life.

“Today, Imedi has become a voice that the majority listens to — a voice that conveys the thoughts, feelings and words of the majority of society. That is why it is also a target for those who wish harm to the country,” Papuashvili wrote, wishing the television company strength, courage and continued success.
