Speaker: Bundestag President's visit to usher in new era of bilateral cooperation
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and the President of the German Bundestag, Bärbel Bas, on Monday, held a joint press point.
In his remark, Papuashvili noted that “Germany’s policy and assistance brought concrete upshots and Georgia is now a state that has made significant progress in developing democratic institutions and society.”
The Speaker believes that Bärbel Bas’s visit “will usher in a new era of bilateral cooperation.”
“We are grateful for Germany’s support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Today, Georgia is still in the historical process. Germany was pivotal in establishing Georgia as a full member of the international community 30 years ago. After 30 years, Germany is still able to execute its historic role and improve peace and prosperity in our nation by granting Georgia EU candidate country status. We expect Germany to take the lead in assisting Georgia’s EU integration,” he asserted.
