Speaker: Brussels claims Saakashvili, radicalism, and his methods define Europe - conflict instigated by Brussels

“We see the difference between Europe as viewed by Brussels and true Europe,” Georgia’s Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told journalists.

According to Papuashvili, this is precisely the conflict that Brussels has unfortunately instigated—that Saakashvili, radicalism and his methods represent Europe.

“Healthcare directions, social directions—all these issues are what we understand to be called true Europe. In contrast, we see how people, including people funded from Brussels, try to sabotage local elections. This is a regrettable problem we observe. Brussels tells us that Saakashvili is Europe—the man during whose time an entire generation was written off. We say that true Europe is respect for the parental generation, ensuring dignified old age and that people who have devoted their labour to the country should be properly valued.

Brussels claims that Saakashvili embodies Europe—yet during his tenure, healthcare costs skyrocketed, forcing many to take bank loans to access basic medical services. We tell Brussels that true Europe offers free healthcare. Tbilisi’s healthcare programs, benefiting nearly half a million citizens each year, exemplify this commitment. These initiatives not only deliver vital services but also enhance public health and play a significant role in increasing life expectancy.

Brussels claims that Saakashvili represents Europe—yet during his time, the cost of kindergartens zoomed. We remind Brussels that true Europe offers free, quality kindergartens, where parents can confidently enrol their young children in proper facilities and pursue their jobs without financial hardship.

This is what we see—this illustrates the clear contrast between Brussels’ perception of Europe and what true Europe actually is. Unfortunately, this is the conflict Brussels has instigated—that they equate Saakashvili, radicalism, and his methods with genuine European values,” declared Shalva Papuashvili.
