February 25 is the date of Georgia’s occupation by the Soviet Army. State flags are lowered at all state institutions.
State flags are lowered at the buildings of the Presidential Administration, Government Administration, the Parliament, various Ministries and state institutions.
Based on the July 21, 2010 resolution of the Parliament of Georgia, 25 February is declared as the Day of Soviet Occupation.
On February 25, 1921, the Russian Red Army entered Tbilisi and overthrew the government elected through universal and free elections, resulting in the annexation the Democratic Republic of Georgia.
