South Korea to close all public facilities as COVID-19 cases increase

The government of South Korea has decided to close all public facilities in Seoul and its surrounding area as the new cases of coronavirus increased and new clusters emerged, CNN reported.

79 new coronavirus cases were confirmed yesterday which is the highest number in a single day since April 5. 54 of them were linked to the logistics centre cluster. More than 4,150 people connected to this cluster have been put under quarantine.

On top of that, Health Minister Park Neung-hoo announced that the parks, retreat facilities, art galleries, museums and theatres will be shut until June 14.

According to the Johns Hopkins University, to date, 11,344 COVID-19 cases and 269 virus-related deaths have been confirmed in South Korea.
