Ex-president Saakashvili smuggled from Ukraine to Georgia, GD Chair said

“Contraband in the person of Mikheil Saakashvili (Georgia’s ex-president) smuggled in Georgia from Ukraine before the war. Unfortunately, this is a pretty serious episode. The question is how this smuggling crossed the Ukrainian border,” the Georgian Dream (GD) Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze remarked on the information of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

GD Chair believes the Ukrainian authorities are responsible for proving their ‘absurd announcement’.

“It is the responsibility of the Ukrainian authorities to prove it. The accuser must prove the charge. Therefore, the government will wait for the Ukrainian authorities to reveal their source to discuss the issue. But we are convinced that they have no evidence, as it is absurd,” Kobakhidze said.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on April 4 announced that Russia was creating channels for smuggling military and other products under sanctions, which would pass through the territory of Georgia with the consent of the government.
