Sharp temperature drop expected across Georgia on January 3–4

According to forecasters, a sharp drop in air temperature is expected across Georgia on January 3–4.

The National Environmental Agency reports that nighttime temperatures in some areas of the Kolkheti Plain may fall to –8°C, while in Shida Kartli they may drop as low as –17°C.

“Subtropical crops and vineyards may suffer significant damage. Severe frosts and icicles may lead to restrictions on certain road and highway sections, as well as freezing of power lines. The danger level is assessed as medium,” the National Environmental Agency said in a statement.
