Shalva Papuashvili: 400 years since St. Ketevan's legacy of dedication and loyalty
“Today marks the 400th anniversary of Saint Queen Ketevan, whose unwavering commitment left a profound impact on her contemporaries and serves as an enduring example of heroism, dedication, and loyalty,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated on the commemoration of Saint Ketevan, the Great Martyr.
Papuashvili emphasized that the life, leadership, wisdom, and resilience of Saint Ketevan embody the true spirit of Georgia, shining brightly during our country’s most challenging times.
“Today, we reflect on 400 years since Saint Queen Ketevan’s simplicity profoundly influenced her world, leaving all Georgians a stirring legacy of heroism, dedication, and loyalty.
Captured at the Shah’s court, the queen faced numerous ultimatums. Her faith stood firm against demands to convert to Catholicism. Even in the face of threats to her children’s lives, she endured tremendous suffering and ultimately became a martyr, akin to the first Christian saints.
The life and strength of Saint Ketevan truly represent Georgia, serving as a beacon of hope for our nation during difficult periods,” Shalva Papuashvili shared on his social media.
