Sexual harassment to be punished by law

Sexual harassment will be punished by law – the Georgian lawmakers approved the draft-bill with 102 votes for with the third hearing during the plenary sitting today. The punishment will envisage monetary fines or social work.

The sexual harassment will include verbal phrases or exposition of genital organs. The sexual behavior will be punished by 300-500 GEL. If it is committed in the presence of a juvenile, a pregnant woman or a person with limited physical capabilities, the fine will be 500-800 GEL.

Authors of the draft-bill are MPs Tamar Chugoshvili, Tamar Khulordava, Dimitri Tskitishvili, Rati Ionatamishvili, Guguli Maghradze, Endzela Machavariani and Giorgi Tugushi.
