U.S. Senator Casey: $132 mln provided for Georgia in 2022 to be substantial commitment

U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) Thursday said the United Stated allocated over 132 mln dollars to Georgia this year, deeming it as a “substantial and enduring commitment you have seen over the last number of years.”

During the press point in Tbilisi, U.S. Senator mentioned a new the Georgia Defense and Deterrence Enhancement Initiative, “a bilateral security cooperation program that will endure to 2027, that amounts to 95 million dollars, and the purpose of that is to have both enhanced territorial defenses and Georgian interoperable abilities with NATO.”

Bob Casey continued: “In the last number of weeks now, in this horrific invasion of Ukraine by a brutal dictator, who has no regard to human life, and I think a lot of us in our government have learned a lot about what is gonna take going forward to push back against that kind of repression and that kind of brutality.”
