Following his historic victory at the ongoing 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze spoke to journalists.

“It’s incredibly difficult to put into words what I feel right now. I am the happiest person alive, becoming world champion in front of my beloved people is a dream come true. I wish all Georgian athletes similar success and urge children to work hard. Behind this achievement lies a great deal of hard work. Without it, I wouldn’t have reached this pinnacle,” Bazadze stated.

Bazadze reflected on the challenges he faced throughout his career.

“I encountered many obstacles along the way, but I never gave up. Age is just a number. I congratulate myself and Georgia on this victory. This is not just my victory; it’s a victory for Georgia as a whole,” he said.

The 31-year-old athlete achieved his first-ever world championship title, having previously earned silver and bronze medals at the same event.

The 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships in Tbilisi commenced on July 22, with live coverage of the final rounds broadcast by the Georgian Public Broadcaster’s First Channel and First Channel Sport.
