Salome Zurabishvili: Russia is an occupant and aggressor, I can repeat it endlessly
The main belief, goal and dream of me and my family was, is and will be the protection of freedom and independence of Georgia from Russia, – Salome Zurabishvili, an independent presidential candidate made this statement at the presentation of her campaign headquarters today.
According to Zurabishvili, her position concerning Russia remained unchanged for more than 60 years.
“My position concerning Russia, if it still needs to be explained, has remained unchanged for more than 60 years. The liberation of Georgia was, is and will be the main belief, goal and dream of me and my family, as well as the defending its independence and freedom, of course from Russia” – Salome Zurabishvili said.
According to her, the emigration carried the flag and the idea of independence from beginning to end.
“My return, the time when this country was already independent, was directed to strengthening Georgia’s independence and returning it to Europe, where it deserves to be. Russia is an occupant and aggressor, I can repeat it endlessly, I keep saying it since my birth. Russia was the occupant in 1801, when it violated the treaty signed by King Erekle II, and in 1921, when it violated the sovereignty of Georgia and my ancestors left the country, as a result of which I was born in France”, – Zurabishvili stated.
She said that Russia was an aggressor and occupant in 2008, when it once again violated all international documents.
“Russia was an aggressor and occupant in 2008, when it once again breached all the international documents and agreements, where it had recognized Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”, – She added.
