Sakrebulo Chair announces 70-million increase in 2024 city budget draft
Giorgi Tkemaladze, the Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Assembly) chair, stated that there was a GEL 70-million surge in the preliminary 2024 city budget draft compared to the approved 2023 financial document.
“I would like to underscore that the primary version of the budget is discussed today for the opposition’s attention not to mislead the society,” Giorgi Tkemaladze said at the Sakrebulo sitting.
According to Sakrebulo Chair, the draft submitted on November 15 would be returned to the Tbilisi City Hall with recommendations, while the final version would be presented in mid-December.
Giorgi Tkemaladze stressed that the 2024 city budget will reflect new significant projects besides ongoing ones.
“You know that a 10% wage rise is planned for public officials across Georgia. We believe the individuals employed in the public sector should have worthy wages. The public sector should withstand the competition to avoid an outflow of human resources. Of course, opposition representatives know the pay rise is the correct step, but they try to portray this issue negatively,” he said.
