Sakaeronavigatsia is set to completely overhaul the airfield lighting and navigation systems on the runway at Kutaisi International Airport, announced Levan Karanadze, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sakaeronavigatsia.

According to Karanadze, these ultra-modern systems fully comply with both ICAO standards and European Union regulations.

“Today, we inspected the ongoing infrastructure project at Kutaisi Airport, which represents a paramount milestone in the history of independent Georgia, as a brand-new runway, the longest in the country at 3,600 metres, is being constructed for the first time. Sakaeronavigatsia will fully renew the airfield lighting and navigation systems on the runway; additionally, new weather stations will be installed, and a new Instrument Landing System has already been fitted.

In short, the entire navigational infrastructure is being upgraded with ultra-modern systems that conform to both ICAO standards and EU norms. As part of the project, new standard departure and arrival procedures were also developed, the validation of which was carried out using a specialised flight-check laboratory aircraft,” Levan Karanadze noted.
