Saakashvili asks incumbent president whether she noted "widespread irregularities" during her election in 2018
“President [Zourabichvili] told the youth as though ‘carousel’ vote rigging was happening during my rule,” said jailed ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili on Thursday, asking the incumbent president whether she noted “widespread irregularities” during her election in 2018.
“No malice on my part, but I am not going to be blind to anything and I encourage everyone to do so. Our unity must be based on truth, mutual forgiveness, and a common vision for the future.
I believe President Zourabichvili can play a positive role in societal consolidation, but this consolidation must be based on many other factors; the leader of the processes and the main decision-maker must be the consolidated force of the young generation, and our task is to follow, obey, and provide them with as much objective information as possible,” he wrote on Facebook.
Saakashvili added that “our main legacy is that we, for the first time in the history of the Caucasus, peacefully transferred the government and we will do everything to ensure that it does not turn out to be the last transfer and that the Georgian people take back the reins of the country’s governance this year.”
