Rustavi archaeological expedition discovers coin dating to period of King Giorgi III
Rustavi archaeological expedition discovered a coin dating to the period of King Giorgi III, father of Queen Tamar, in the hall of the medieval palace of Rustavi, Rustavi Mayor Nino Latabidze wrote on Facebook.
“We have made another discovery in Rustavi that attests to the city’s rich history.
Our archaeological expedition discovered a coin dating to the reign of George III—the father of Queen Tamar- in Hall IV of the medieval palace in Rustavi. The coin is a unique sample of 12th-century Georgian numismatics.
The expedition keeps on working, and we are actively making efforts on the conservation and restoration project of the historic Rustavi fortress and palace,” Nino Latsabidze wrote.
