Revenue Service: Kazbegi customs checkpoint to resume full operations once Devdoraki Valley hazard subsides

“The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance hereby informs the public that the alarm system installed in the Devdoraki Valley was activated, as a result of which the high-precision system immediately relayed an alert signal to the Kazbegi customs checkpoint,” reads the Revenue Service’s statement.

“To ensure safety, through coordinated efforts with the relevant state bodies, employees of the aforementioned customs checkpoint, as well as all representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ patrol and border police present on site, employees of various companies, heavy goods vehicles, passenger cars, drivers, and passengers have been evacuated to a protected, safe location.

We further clarify that all customs control procedures at the Kazbegi customs checkpoint have been suspended. The import and export of goods across Georgia’s customs border, as well as customs control procedures for individuals crossing the state border through this checkpoint, cannot currently be executed,” the Revenue Service stated.

According to the agency, once the hazardous conditions subside, the Kazbegi customs checkpoint will resume normal operations at full capacity, allowing passenger and cargo transit to proceed without disruption.
