The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance has released a statement on the process of enforcing international sanctions.
According to the RS, Georgia has consistently adhered to the established regulations and strictly monitors all customs procedures related to international sanctions.
“Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia is responding to the disinformation spread by the TV program Saturday with Nodar Meladze aired on TV Pirveli regarding the enforcement of international sanctions by Georgia and is once again categorically declaring that our country has been adhering to international sanctions since day one by thoroughly following the established rules and by strictly monitoring all types of customs clearance transactions.
Taking into account the aforesaid, export of any and all commodities, in this case the household electronic appliances indicated in the footage, which are included in the list of sanctioned commodihies as determined by the countries engaged in the global initiative and which are subject to the requirements stipulated in the regulation adopted by the European Ccouncil (EU Directive 833/2014 ddated 31-07-2014 on banning the export of electronic appliances from the European Union to the Russian Federation) is allowed if and when the unit value does not exceed 750 Euros.
In addition, any customs clearance transaction carried out by companies registered in Georgia and goods aimed for the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus (including through export and/or re-export) are subject to extraordinary customs control, all transactions falling under this category are duly checked and if the company or commodities are on the sanctioned list, such transaction is not permitted to be carried forward.
All our partner agencies and international organizations have been duly informed about the customs control procedures regarding the enforcement of sanctions.
Also, issuance of the Certificates of Origin is subject to additional verification, to make sure that the territory of Georgia is not used as a means of evading the imposed sanctions.
