Retail Association: Anti-Corruption Agency requested contracts, accounting documents, and invoices from Association's member companies
The Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service (SSSG) has requested contracts, accounting documents, and invoices from member companies of the Retail Association, the association confirmed in a statement on January 22.
“All member companies of the association are fully and unhinderedly cooperating with the investigative body. The procedures are taking place in a calm environment, in full compliance with legal norms and established frameworks,” the statement said. The association noted that due to the volume of documents requested, collection and processing will require additional time.
The SSSG confirmed that the document seizures were conducted based on a court ruling and are part of ongoing investigative actions.
Separately, a Government Coordination Commission on food prices is actively working on the issue. The commission includes the Ministers of Economy, Environment, Finance, and Health, as well as the heads of the State Security Service, the Government Administration, and the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency.
On January 21, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with representatives of chain markets to discuss related issues.
