Rescue efforts' area expands in Shovi

The area of rescue efforts in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality, Racha region, expanded, said the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Rescuers are inspecting the territory by boat. Police units, the team of cynologists, fire-fighters, defence forces and the Roads Department are involved in the works. Special vehicles and drones are mobilized in the disaster zone.

The death toll in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of Oni Municipality rose to 24 on August 11. Nine people are still missing, and rescue efforts continue at various locations.

A deadly landslide struck the resort on August 3.
