Ahead of Georgia’s UEFA Nations League second-round match against Ukraine, newly appointed Georgia national team head coach Ramaz Svanadze held a press conference at Dinamo Arena and spoke about preparations for the upcoming match.

“I want to thank the Football Federation for this great vote of confidence. In the football world, there are players who take a relatively easy path to becoming coaches. I did not get here easily; I went through a difficult journey. Therefore, there should be no question about whether I am ready to coach the national team. From now on, everything should be judged by results.

“Giorgi Dekanosidze and Bondo Gotsiridze will be part of my coaching staff. What do we want to improve most quickly? I will not go into tactical issues. I hope we will have the right emotional approach. I expect unity, without which it is difficult to achieve success.

Our goal is to show consistency in our performances and results. This is a path that must be taken step by step, but I believe our team has the potential to do it. Our main goal will be to achieve a positive result against any team.

Can we play pressing football for 90 minutes? I believe we can, but it depends on the specific circumstances and the opponent. As for the Ukrainian national team, after the change of coach, the team has become more organized and plays combination football.

Irakli Egoiani is a very important player for our national team. Whether Chakvetadze will be ready to play for 90 minutes will be known before the match. I want to wish Khvicha success in winning the Ballon d’Or and in tomorrow’s match against Ukraine.

I expect great support from the fans. It has been 11 years since a Georgian has coached the national team. I hope that tomorrow and in the future we will play football that will make our fans happy,” Svanadze said.

Georgia will host Ukraine in the second-round match of League B on September 28. The match will kick off at 20:00, with GPB First Channel broadcasting the game live.
