Rabies confirmed in two cattle in Dmanisi municipality

Rabies has been confirmed in two cattle in the village of Ganakhleba, Dmanisi Municipality, in the Kvemo Kartli region, following laboratory testing, the National Food Agency reported.

According to the agency, the National Food Agency is working at the site of the infection together with healthcare specialists.

“According to the owners, the animals did not have any visible bite marks.

In accordance with the legislation, disease control measures will be carried out in connection with the incident. A quarantine will be declared in the affected area; susceptible animals will be vaccinated against rabies; disinfection measures will be carried out; the movement of animals will be restricted; and the health of rabies-susceptible animals will be monitored.

An epidemiological investigation will be conducted by specialists from the Kvemo Kartli Department,” the National Food Agency said in a statement.
