The public funeral of the newly identified 13 people, killed during the Georgian-Abkhazian armed conflict of 1990s and repatriated from occupied Abkhazia region, is being held at Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral.

Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, members of Cabinet of Ministers and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze are attending the public funeral.

The funeral of 2 persons will be held at Dighomi Brothers Cemetery. Others will be buried at family cemeteries.

The identification of remains of Georgian soldiers became possible through joint forces of Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality with the Red Cross International Committee.

The first repatriation of remains took place in 2013. The remains of 563 people have been found in total out of which 191 are identified.
