Public Defender's Office continues monitoring ex-president's health

Georgian Public Defender’s Office continues monitoring ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s health state within the framework of the Medical Consilium.

Public Defender Levan Ioseliani said that he had recently visited the former president and talked about his needs.

Ioseliani also said that his office keeps monitoring the health of inmates at all penitentiary facilities.

“We haven’t ceased attention to prisoners’ health even for a minute,” he said.

Lawyers of jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili submitted a lawsuit in the Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). A filed document deals mostly with Saakashvili’s health condition and the type of treatment to be undertaken. Case evidence is the conclusions of Georgian and foreign experts urging for Saakashvili’s transfer abroad for treatment.
