Public Defender calls on Prosecutor's Office to provide Machalikashvilis’ family with information about investigation

I call on the Prosecutor’s Office to provide Machalikashvilis’ family with the information about the investigation – Public Defender Nino Lomjaria said in connection with the one-year anniversary of the special operation carried out in Pankisi.

The Public Defender noted that the information is not available about the results of the investigation. “When this fact happened last year, I stated that the investigation was to be conducted on time. However, despite the fact that one year has passed, we do not have any information on the progress of the investigation or the circumstances of death.

Regrettably, despite our request, the Prosecutor’s Office did not grant us access to the investigation materials. I think there was enough time to provide substantiated answers to our questions. I once again call on the Prosecutor’s Office to provide information about the investigation to the family in the first place,” Lomjaria said.

Temirlan Machalikashvili, 19-year-old youth was wounded in a special operation carried out in Pankisi on December 26, 2017. He died at the hospital on January 10.
