Protesters swear oath with Paata Burchuladze at April 9 Memorial

On Rustaveli Avenue, at the April 9 Memorial, protesters united in taking an oath alongside Paata Burchuladze.

“Today, April 9, on Rustaveli Avenue—where 36 years ago our heroes fought with prayer and song against Soviet troops for the freedom of Georgia—in front of their martyred souls who continue to inspire us, we pledge to uphold their achievement: the independence of Georgia.

We vow to protect each fighter and the ‘prisoners of conscience.’ We will not abandon those who have been persecuted in the name of justice. We extend our hands to them and their families with love, both in word and deed. We will support one another and fight resolutely for the freedom of this country and its people. May God be our guide in this noble struggle,” declared Paata Burchuladze while reading the text of the oath.

The opposition leaders were also present at the swearing-in ceremony on Rustaveli Avenue.

Before the ceremony, a prayer service was held at the April 9 Memorial, during which attendees collectively offered their prayers.
