Protesters on Rustaveli Avenue confront Lelo’s Grigol Gegelia [Video]

A brawl unfolded on Rustaveli Avenue between rally supporters of Mzia Amaglobeli [jailed founder of Netgazeti and Batumelebi media outlets] and leaders of the opposition Lelo-Strong Georgia party.

The confrontation, both verbal and physical, erupted after participants protested the presence of one of Lelo’s leaders, Grigol Gegelia, at the rally.

What began as a verbal exchange escalated into a physical altercation, prompting Gegelia and other representatives of Lelo to leave Rustaveli Avenue.

Participants of the rally explained that their protest was motivated by Lelo’s participation in the local self-government elections.

In response, Gegelia commented on the incident, asserting that there was no confrontation and that “everyone is on the same side”.
