Protest rally organisers announce protest march from State University to Rustaveli Avenue on November 28
“November 28 marks a year since the illegitimate, Russian and unworthy regime of the “Georgian Dream”, which promised its voters to “move with dignity to Europe”, openly rejected the country’s European path and Georgia’s independence and statehood,” said Levan Jobava, one of the participants in the protest rallies, at a briefing held on Rustaveli Avenue near the Parliament.
As Jobava noted, the statement was read on behalf of representatives of civil organisations, protest groups, political parties, and political prisoners.
“One year on, the Georgian people respond to the regime’s systematic torture, degrading treatment and hostage-taking of people fighting for Georgia’s freedom with dignity, relentless struggle and solidarity with each other.
By rejecting a European future, Ivanishvili carried out a constitutional coup against the will of the absolute majority of Georgian citizens. Our fight is the battle for this country’s constitution, for a European future, for the security and well-being of Georgian citizens, for the unification of the country, for quality education, and for many other benefits that are only possible in the European space.
Today, we, the participants of the ongoing resistance, civil society organisations, protest groups, political parties, and representatives of political prisoners, stand here united to declare that the regime has failed in its most crucial task: to stop the resistance.
Ivanishvili will not win as long as we fight, act, and do not give up.
We address the political prisoners in detention: please know that we will not give up, we will not cease our fight until all of you are released, the regime is overthrown, and new, free, and fair elections are held. In these elections, the people will reclaim the seized state and restore the country’s historic path towards joining the European Union.
On November 28, at 7 p.m., we will gather at Tbilisi State University, from where a protest march will take place towards Rustaveli Avenue.
We are here, we are the majority, and we will fight until victory! Freedom to prisoners of the regime,” Levan Jobava has stated.
