The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) says the protest rally against the Transparency Law on Rustaveli Avenue, “has become violent, with protesters verbally and physically confronting law enforcement officers.”
According to the MIA, despite numerous calls from the law enforcement officers, the protesters tried to break through the police cordon several times.
The Ministry notes that the police employed a legal means to restore order.
“Once again, we call on the organizers of the rally, political party leaders and participants to obey the legal requirements of the law enforcement officers and not to exceed the norms established by the law,” the Ministry stated.
