Prosecutor's Office summons President for interrogation over election fraud allegations
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia launched an investigation into election fraud allegations following the recent parliamentary elections by the President, opposition political parties and local observers at the October 30 request of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili is summoned for interrogation on October 31.
“The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia will conduct all necessary investigative and procedural activities, as per the CEC request, to probe into facts reported by the President of Georgia, individual political parties and representatives of observation missions.
All interested stakeholders, who might have information about the fraud-related activities, will be questioned within the framework of the investigation,” reads the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation agency stated that it would regularly update society with the results of the ongoing investigation.
