Prosecutor’s Office: Murtaz Zodelava and Lasha Beridze admit guilt, express remorse, and file for a plea bargain
“Murtaz Zodelava and Lasha Beridze, convicted for their roles in the attempted seizure of strategic facilities, the organisation and leadership of group violence, and public calls for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order, have formally admitted guilt, expressed contrition, and applied to the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia for plea bargain agreements,” official sources confirmed on Monday.
Given the high-profile nature of the case, the Prosecutor’s Office has promised to disclose its decision on the plea bargains to the public as soon as it makes its formal determination.
On 7 May, the court of first instance sentenced both Zodelava and Beridze to seven years’ imprisonment.
Both defendants publicly announced their applications for plea bargain agreements themselves during court proceedings earlier today at the Tbilisi Court of Appeals.
