Prosecutor's Council selects three candidates for General Prosecutor's post

The Prosecutor’s Council selected three candidates for the position of Georgian General Prosecutor through a ballot held on July 10.

The selected candidates are Victor Akhalbedashvili, Darejan Butskhrikidze and Giorgi Gabitashvili. Victor Akhalbedashvili received nine votes, Davit Bakradze – 1, Lali Bunturi – 0, Darejan Butskhrikidze – 10, Giorgi Gabitashvili – 11, Aleksandre Kobaidze – 0, Andronik Saribekov – 1.

A secret ballot to select one candidate among the three contenders will be held on July 11. The candidate who receives more votes but not less than two-thirds of the entire composition of the Prosecutor’s Council will be considered elected.

The ballot will be live-streamed on the Facebook page of the Prosecutor’s Council to ensure transparency in the process.
